2 Preparing to Transfer Files

Before you can start transferring files using the file transfer program, you must complete the following tasks:

Ensure that your System Administrator has configured SNAP-IX (using the Motif administration program or the command-line administration program).
Set the LANG environment variable.
Ensure that the SNAP-IX software is started.

This chapter describes these steps.

2.1 Setting Environment Variables

Check that your LANG environment variable is set to your local language. See your operating system documentation for the names of valid languages.
