Network Protocol Product News Update

IP Routing

Our commitment to providing the best portable IP routing products available continues as we completed testing at both UNH-IOL and Isocore labs. Our customer list has also grown as we announced wins at Infinera and Photonic Bridges. Data Connection IP routing products, which include DC-BGP, DC-OSPF, DC-ISIS, and DC-RIP, are further enhanced by offering an integrated control plane with Data Connection MPLS.

PIM Source Mode (SM) will be released in early 2006 which follows our initial Multicast product family release of PIM Source Specific mode (SSM) in 2005.

VoIP & Session Border Controller

We've recently released information detailing our IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) support via Data Connection's software-based Session Border Controller (DC-SBC) solution. DC-SBC is designed to provide OEMs of existing products or new architectures with SBC and/or IMS functionality in the quickest time to market. For more information see DC-SBC IMS solutions.

Data Connection's VoIP solutions, DC-Megaco/H.248, DC-MGCP, and DC-SIP, maintain their position as the market leaders as customer wins continue to accumulate including recently announced NEC and Entrisphere. Also, DC-SIP completed successful interoperability testing in Stockholm at SIPit17 where over 60 SIP vendors participated.

Packet & Optical MPLS

The popularity of Data Connection's Optical Control plane software was showcased in June as our OIF implementations of UNI 2.0 and E-NNI were utilized by Ciena, Huawei and Fujitsu at the OIF Worldwide Interoperability Demonstration.

Data Connection's packet MPLS solution has continued to be extended and deployed by more customers. Enhancements have been made to DC-RSVP and DC-LDP including MIB updates to conform to the latest requirements from the IETF.

White Papers

Our whitepapers continue to be an extremely popular source of technology information for the industry. Our two most recent papers are SIP Session Border Controllers: Enabling the VoIP Revolution and Session Border Control in IMS. The purpose of each paper is to inform the reader on the technology and relevant forces that shape the industry while remaining completely vendor neutral. There are 17 whitepapers available for download at www.metaswitch.com/rescenter/whitepapers.aspx.

Other Data Connection Technologies

MetaSwitch, the next generation softswitch division, more than doubled its gross revenue from the previous year. The division now has over 170 deployments - up from 60 this time last year - with incumbent and competitive telephone operators, primarily in North America. Notable events during the year included the introduction of the UC9000 Unified Communications System, adding a powerful range of IMS applications services to the division's established strength in Class 4/5 softswitching, and the successful introduction of a distributed softswitch architecture with the CA9020 Call Agent, already deployed in more than 30 carrier networks. For more information, see www.metaswitch.com.

The company's Internet Applications Group, which provides unified messaging, web conferencing and directory solutions, made particularly strong growth in the tier 1 service provider and government markets, by leveraging Data Connection's industry-leading expertise in next-generation, VoIP-based application services for the telecommunications market. Major recent R&D investment in key areas such as legacy voicemail replacement and service creation environment (SCE) functions will sustain growth in the coming year. The Enterprise Connectivity Group continues to operate successfully through its long-term strategic relationships with IBM, Microsoft, Cisco, HP and other major OEMs, in addition to its direct sales to large enterprises. For more information, see www.metaswitch.com/snapix/.
