Distribution
The N-BASE allows our customers to exploit the power of multiple processor systems.
The N-BASE provides unrivalled flexibility in placing Metaswitch
network software product components across multiple processors or line cards and multiple tasks
running per processor, in such a way that it optimally exploits the processor power available
on such systems.
As an example, our IP Routing products can distribute multiple
instances of DC-RTM, DC-CSPF and/or DC-BGP components onto separate processors or line cards.
This distribution approach reduces the load on the central processor, avoids potential processor
bottlenecks and reducing the traffic flow over the router's backplane, which allows the products
to be used in very highly scaled environments.
DC-RTM, DC-CSPF, the DC-OSPF Neighbor Manager, the DC-BGP Neighbor Manager and the DC-ISIS
Subnetwork Dependent components can all be distributed in this manner. In addition, multiple
distributed instances of each component can be used for resilience and increased performance,
as illustrated in the diagram below.
